Q&A

Q=What do you believe?

We are United Methodist Church congregation. Our beliefs align with the Protestant faith and the teachings of our founder, John Wesley. You can find detailed information at http://www.umc.org/what-we-believe/basics-of-our-faith

Q=I’m new here. How do I meet people?

A=Show up! You’ll find plenty of people ready to welcome you on Sunday mornings. Our worship services and Sunday school classes are open to everyone of all ages. You can hang out before and after worship in GROUNDED, our coffee house. Someone is always there to greet you.

For kids, teens, and 20-somethings, our youth group and young adult group are perfect opportunities to connect with people your own age. During the week, many of our GROW groups meet along with our Wednesday night Bible study at 7pm. If you like to sing, our choir rehearses on Thursday nights. No matter what you attend, you’ll find people ready to make you feel at home. If you’d like to find out more, click here  and let us know how you’d like to get connected.

Q=Is there childcare during the worship services?

A=Yes, each service has childcare for pre-schoolers.  There is Sunday School for all ages at 9:50am during the school year.

Q=What time are the services?

A=On Sunday, worship in the Sanctuary is at 9 AM and 11 AM. Sunday School, after being “off” for the summer, resumes in September at 9:50 AM.

Q=“Do I need to give consent for you to record or live-stream a service I attend?”

Q=Is the church handicapped accessible?

A=Yes, there is access for those needing wheelchair assistance. A Hearing Assistance System is also available for worship.

Q=Where is the Fellowship House and the church office?

A= Across the street from the church is a 3-story white building with a front porch. The address is 60 State Street. The social hall, kitchen, classrooms, and office are housed there.

Q=What is the Bell Park?

A=On the point between State and Academy Streets, this park features the bell that was in the steeple of the “old” church. Memorial/commemorative pavers line the path in the garden. Visitors are welcome to visit and spend time in reflection and/or prayer.

Q=How is the Methodist church structured organizationally?

A= Glassboro is one of almost 90 churches in the area known as the Delaware Bay District. There are 9 districts in the state of New Jersey known as the Greater New Jersey Annual Conference. This conference is part of the Northeastern Jurisdiction which is one of 4 areas which make up the United Methodist Church (www.umc.org). Because of this connectional relationship, resources and outreach have a stronger impact than an individual church. The pastor of each church is appointed by the Bishop of the Conference.

Q=How do I join Glassboro Methodist?

A=If you’d like to learn more about membership, complete the form below. Pastor John, or one of our staff, will get back to you.
