Letter to the congregation from Pastor John

Dear Church Family,

Are you ready for an exciting summer? There is so much going on at FUMC for everyone to enjoy. First, our church has fully reopened! We no longer require masks or social distancing for those who are vaccinated. If you are not vaccinated or just not ready to unmask, please continue to wear a mask. We are also designating a section of the sanctuary for those who want to social distance. We will continue livestreaming both services as well. Later in July, our Grounded coffee house will reopen with fresh, hot coffee and prepackaged snacks for everyone.

Second, we are celebrating the Summer of Love throughout July! 1 John 4:8 says, “Whoever does not love does not know God, for God is love.” Throughout our Summer of Love series, we will look at four different ways we can love God and the people around us by following the example and teaching of Jesus. We’re going to have a lot of fun with this and, frankly, we all need a bit of fun, don’t we! So, invite your friends, break out your tie-dye, get ready for a scavenger hunt, and embrace your inner hippie as we make love our focus for the month!

Third, your church leaders want to hear from you! The church council is holding an Open Mic Council Night on Monday, July 19th at 7:00pm in the Sanctuary. All church members are invited to come and share your comments, ideas, and opinions about what our church is doing well, where we can improve, and what you want the future to look like for FUMC. This is an opportunity to let us know what you’re thinking so we can better plan for the future and move our church forward together. Each person will have three minutes to share their thoughts graciously. Your leaders promise to listen attentively and consider everything you share seriously. We will also accept email feedback from those who’d prefer to write it out. Please, email our Church Council Chairperson, Nancy Walters at [email protected] by Saturday, July 17th.

Finally, Vacation Bible School kicks off on Sunday August 1st! This year’s program is going to be amazing as we return to meeting in-person to help kids learn more about Jesus. Registration for kids in K-5th grade is open so check out our website (Glassboromethodist.org) for more info and to sign up.

What an absolute blessing it is to see our church beginning to thrive again after too many months of pandemic isolation. While we’re still not out of the tunnel, the light at the end is brighter than ever! Praise God and thank you for sticking it out with us.

Yours in Christ,

Pastor J-
