The mission of the First United Methodist Church, Glassboro is to serve God, our community, the world, and each other with ministries of prayer, worship, teaching, fellowship, community outreach, and world mission in order to make disciples whose lives will speak for the Lord and reach out to others who do not know God.

Here are opportunities for service and ministry.

   
 

FOR OUR CHURCH....Greeters are needed for our 11:00 a.m. worship service;

 

Transportation Team - Are you available to help someone come to church by providing transportation for him/her/them? Some church members are without vehicles so if you can help, see Arlean.

   
Non-perishable food items
needed now!

SAMARITAN CENTER; Glassboro

Food items are collected in the First United Methodist Church narthex anytime but especially the 3rd Sunday of each month. Items currently needed are jars of jelly and additional foods other than soup, peas, string beans, corn and pasta.

The Samaritan Center needs your help on Thursday evenings between 7 and 9 p.m. to sort food items and stack on them on the shelves. Contact Bettye B

HOURS: Food Closet – Monday, Wednesday and Thursday from 3-4 p.m. and Clothes Closet – Tuesday and Thursday from 9-11 a.m. and Thursday night from 7-9 p.m.

 

 

The Camden Neighborhood Center needs volunteers at all times, but expecially in August. Volunteers read to pre-school children, work in the soup kitchen, and provide other services.

 

 

Habitat for Humanity: The RESTORE is open in Pitman. Volunteer to help with merchandising or donate your household goods.

 

 

Meals-to-Heal ministry provides a church family with a meal when a member has been hospitalized or recuperating from a hospitalization. Be a part of this ministry by offering to provide a meal periodically.

 

   
 

 

CONTACT COMMUNITY HELPLINES

If you are motivated by a deep concern for people and a desire to make a difference, being a CONTACT volunteer may be for you. If you have a few hours a week or even a few hours a month become a CONTACT volunteer. Telephone volunteers provide non-judgmental, empathetic listening and appropriate information and referrals to individuals in need.. CONTACT REASSURANCE is another program that provides a daily call to individuals who are shut in.  Training is provided. Call CONTACT COMMUNITY HELPLINES as 856-795-5073 for more information.

 

 

FAMILY PROMISE: Interfaith Hospitality Network (IHN)  www.familypromisegc.org

·       Several churches in the county got together and began this ministry in December 2005 to serve families that are homeless. Volunteer efforts make it work, from meal preparation to day or overnight host/hostess. To find out about volunteer opportunities, call the church office 856-881-3295 or Denise. Training is available and is required.

 

 

HOSPICE

Volunteers are needed. If you have a few hours a week or even a few hours a month and want to make a difference, become a HOSPICE volunteer. Hospice volunteers are needed to provide caregivers a much-needed break from their responsibilities with patients with a life-limiting disease. Training is provided.
