How you can help in relief efforts!

One is to make your dollar donations to UMCOR (the United Methodist Committee on  Relief). To do that, make your checks payable to FUMC and mark UMCOR in the memo section, and then mail it to or drop it off at the church. 100% of the money will go to relief efforts as the administrative costs are paid by the Shared Ministries that we (FUMC) pay to the conference.

Two: Help in the assembly of health kits. Below are the details you need to know.  If you have health kits ready to go to Woodstown but are unable to transport them there, please see Karl, Nancy Walters or someone on the mission committee for assistance.

Brothers and Sisters

The Delaware District  Office is collecting health kits.  You may bring them to the district office anytime between 8:30AM and 4:00PM.  We are located in the Asbury UMC, 149 South Main Street, Woodstown, NJ.
UMCOR’s two relief supply warehouses are asking United Methodists to provide health kits that can be sent to any place facing a catastrophe.

“For people who are feeling powerless in being able to help those in Haiti, for example, providing health kits is a tangible way they can make an immediate difference,” said Kathy Kraiza, director of UMCOR’s relief supplies. She estimates that hundreds of thousands of kits will continue to be needed.

The kits, valued at about $12 per kit, contain everything from towels and washcloths to sterile bandages and bar soap. They will be distributed to those who have been forced to leave their homes as a result of the recent disaster.
For individuals or groups that want to contribute basic necessities, UMCOR requests that the following NEW items be placed in a sealed one-gallon plastic bag.

(NOTE: Toothpaste is purchased in bulk to be added to health kits to ensure that the product does not expire before they are sent.)

Because the emergency kits are carefully planned to make them usable in the greatest number of situations and strict rules govern product entry into international countries, UMCOR requires that the kits contain only the requested items – nothing more.

If you have any questions, please call the office.
